Sophie's Oat Milk
Sophie is a former schoolmate, a colleague, a friend and comrade. She’s the OG Hyperburgers #1, as she was the very first participants of my project. With Sophie we blended and filtered oat milk a few times, once at ZBar, the cafetaria of the school. She told and wrote the recipe for me at least 3 times. I think it should be a cup of rolled oats, 3 cups water, pinch of salt. She made her own syrup with Dandylion. Blend and filter.
Since I started the project I cultivate a particular obsession with tetrapak containers and their most classic content, oatmilk. Packaging waste was my research entry point. I collect Tetrapak since 2023, I have now around 300. feel free to clean and send me yours as well.
More recollections about oat milk: I once organized a testing session and an exhibition at TAC – Temporary Art Center. I also shot a Hyperburgers commercial. I eventually started making my own, without really watching the measures. I fill 1/3 of the bullet blender with rolled oats, add salt, sugar, tap water, blend for 30-45 seconds and filter with the cheese cloth.
To make oatmilk in a Hyperburgers should cost around 40 cents the liter. For the barista, an extra enzym or simply oil should be added. I heard it's hard to fix the right formula for the barista oat milk.
